    Book details

Frank Lloyd Wright wasn’t just an architect. He was a prophet, a poseur; a beloved teacher, a failed businessman. During his long, eventful life he experienced both incredible misfortune and great success. This Is Frank Lloyd Wright brings his projects and persona into vivid focus. Wit and visual punch have been the hallmarks of the This Is series to date; the first architectural title in the series will give readers an up-close look at Wright’s progress from difficult childhood, to struggling apprenticeship, to early success, through mid-life setbacks and on to late-life comeback.

Ian Volner is a freelance writer on architecture and design based in New York. Michael Kirkham is an Edinburgh-based illustrator working internationally in the fields of advertising, editorial, and design. His work has been featured in numerous publications, including The New Yorker, Wallpaper*, and The Wall Street Journal.

An unusual and lovely illustrated and detailed book for anyone to read and get to know Frank Lloyd Wright. It is nothing at all like "a straight forward serious (although it is serious) architectual facts book" about one of the most wonderful architects the world has ever had! It is of course about his buildings and his designs, but it also explains a lot more about him and the why. This book is so different from all the architectual books I own, but as a huge FLW fan I had to have it and I am so pleased I bought it! Will love and treasure it amongst my extensive library of architects.

Beautifully produced. Though struggling to make this bed time story compete with 20 Architects every child should know...
